Why It’s Curated: We are big fans of G-Wagens, especially the short wheelbase 3 door models which this one is. This example lived the majority of its life in Germany and Spain prior to being imported from Spain in 2022 (see history below). The look of this example in Black Pearl Metallic over Black Leather with the Rotiform wheels and the SWB 3-door layout is just about perfect if you love a slab sided truck as much as we do. We like the simplicity of this particular build that doesn’t have excess headlight, signal indicator, and rear light covers that so many G-Wagens have, let alone side skirts and the like. Rarely do we come across a vehicle that we wouldn’t change anything on. This may be just one of those vehicles.

History per the Seller:

  • “Sold new in Germany, the original owners used the truck as a daily driver until 1995, at which point it followed them to their retirement/vacation home in Llafranc, Spain. It was sold to another local expat in 2013, who proceeded to put roughly 1,600 kilometers (1k miles) per year on it until it was sold to an importer/exporter in 2022. The exporter commissioned a respray in the original Black Pearl finish, as well as some basic mechanical service prior to importing it to the States, at which point he sold it [to the current seller].”
  • “Apart from the Euro and US Carfax reports, there’s unfortunately no documentation, but it was clear to me from the lack of rust, interior/mechanical condition, and what was not (and did not need to be) addressed by the exporter during refurbishment, that the truck’s been well cared for throughout its life. When I received it, I brought it to my mechanic and had him go through and take care of everything he could find to make it as reliable and strong as possible, including replacing the valve cover gasket, timing cover seal, cam seal, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, steering damper shock bushings, passenger side rear brake cylinder/front right caliper re-seal and new brake pads. Lastly, on 10/23 I had the fuel distributor replaced with a correct Bosch unit (it was occasionally lazy after coming to a stop – problem now solved). All of this was mostly preemptive service, as I had intended on keeping the truck long term, but unfortunately unforeseen circumstances have me now listing it for sale. But this isn’t a fire-sale – I fully intend on making sure it goes to the right buyer at the right price. That said, if you don’t like the Rotiform wheels or would prefer the originals, I’m open to mounting new tires on them, retaining the Rotiforms, and reducing the sale price by $2,500.”

Imperfections per the Seller:

  • “There are a couple of touched up rock chips behind the driver side rear wheel arch and a few others here and there, some scuffs on the front bumper (semigloss black’s pretty easy to repair, if you’re so inclined), cracked mounting surfaces on the passenger side plastic door pocket, and a slight scratch in the passenger side seat’s leather (it’s a surface scratch, not through, and hard to notice unless you’re looking for it). Apart from these negligible flaws, it’s in exceptionally clean condition – no dings or dents, no rust-bubbles (a virtual impossibility on a 30-year-old G-Wagon), uniform panel gaps and fits, and unmarred glass. Carpets, headliner, and interior panels are all in great shape, as are the dash and the wood – no cracks, no warping.
