Why It's Curated: This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 280GE is for sale in Scottsdale, Az. Originally owned by a doctor in Norway, this G-Wagen was purchased by a German doctor in California in 2023. It was first taken to Germany for mechanical work and a repaint before being imported to the U.S. We like the color. These early G-Wagons are very cool and so iconic. Finding a gasoline engined one like this is unusual. It also has upgraded wheels and seats. As much as we love Defenders, we'd be very tempted by a truck like this.

Mechanical, Rust, Cosmetic Known Flaws:
1. The new door seals make the doors difficult to close, so some adjustment would be helpful.

2. The AC is missing a hose.

3. The Recaro seats were temporarily wired by the second owner to verify their functionality, so the wiring needs to be improved/hidden. I don't know what was wrong with the original wiring.

4. There is no catalytic converter installed, but there is a new one included with the sale.

5. The clutch slips under heavier load in the top 3 gears, but shifts and drives fine under normal conditions.
